SquidLondon is a fashion, products and design duo based in Shoreditch. Established in 2008 by two university graduates; Emma-Jayne Parkes and Viviane Jaeger, SquidLondon is known for its highly innovative umbrella designs. Its 'Squidarella' - described as a 'walking piece of art' is an umbrella that changes colour in the rain.
With the help of flexible finance options from Lloyds TSB Commercial, SquidLondon is doubling production after a successful first year and a half of trading and has produced as many umbrellas in the past 6 months as it did in the whole of the first year.
The company also took a top award at the recent National Consortium of University Entrepreneurs (NACUE) Varsity Pitch Competition having won the 'Creative Industry' category, sponsored by Lloyds TSB, at the semi-final stages.
The innovative agency has gained a number of high profile contracts, including being commissioned by 'Tate' to develop an exclusive umbrella selling on average 100 a week, as well as being featured in an interactive display by MumurArt at Selfridges.
The company has ambitious growth plans and is continuing to expand its existing design range of umbrellas as well as diversifying its product offering to include colour changing shower curtains and capes. We have worked closely with them to have a solid understanding of their business in order to offer suitable support and guidance to achieve their goals.

"It was great that Lloyds TSB could see the potential growth in our business when we started out. The flexible finance they offer is a useful asset for any start-up company. We have already doubled production and have ambitious plans for the future."
